Pat McGoey - Featured Artist

Pat McGoey was born in Toronto and has been painting since the late 1990’s. His early years working in print publishing graphic arts gave him an eye for colour and design. Pat has a love of the outdoors, spending his summer holidays canoeing in British Columbia and Northern Ontario. Influenced by The Group of Seven, Tom Thomson, Van Gogh and Georgia O’Keefe, Pat has always been inspired by the landscapes surrounding him.

A contemporary artist, Pat is a colour specialist and appreciates the vibration it represents with his bold use of colour and texture in most of his artwork. His primary medium is oil on canvas with a palette knife for landscapes, interiors and florals. In addition he works in concrete.

In 2014 and 2015, Pat worked with concrete trades’ people to learn about materials, concrete pigments and dyes, and finishing. After certification he went on to create his series of paintings and table title Stone Reflections in Concrete.

In 2016, Pat’s love of landscape painting, the great outdoors and working with other artist launched a year long painting trip from Toronto to Florida, up the east coast and across Canada. Much of the trip was following the routes of the Group of Seven, interacting and painting with fellow artist and visiting some of the most renown galleries.

Pat McGoey uses his art to support various communities. He has donated paintings to many projects including; The Stephen Lewis Foundation for the Grans to Grans Group in Nelson BC, United Way for Scotiabank in Oakville ON, Literature for Life in Toronto ON, May Court Club, Art Around the Benz Event in Oakville ON, Golden Horseshoe Culinary Team, White Oaks Secondary School Environmental Initiative in Oakville, ON.

Pat can most often be found working out of Nelson, BC (home), Ontario and Florida. In Ontario his focus is Algonquin Provincial Park, the Niagara Escarpment (Milton to Owen Sound) and ravines along Lake Ontario, Toronto and Oakville regions.

Pat’s work has been published in Arabella Magazine (March 2012 Artist’s who paint winter) and Mississauga Life; The Trail Painting Series. His work is displayed in private and corporate collections throughout North America. Pat McGoey has been a member of Springbank Artists and The Lakeshore Art Trail.
