FEATURED ARTISTAnne More

Anne More - Feature Artist

My goal as a painter is to share my interpretation of the beauty of the natural spaces that we are blessed to have on our doorstep. Currently I am working with oils on canvas to capture the rich hues of nature and the interplay of light and shadow as it dances across the landscape. I hope to engage the viewer not only to share the experience but, in doing so hope to inspire a sense of respect and wonder for the world around us.
– Anne More

Anne More is a local artist from Burlington, Ontario. She has been exhibiting since 1987, but painting and drawing from the time that she could pick up a pencil. Since retiring from teaching, More paints full time; taking photographs on her travels and using them as inspiration for her paintings.

Anne More’s original artwork is the newest addition to The Gallery Upstairs art collections. Her colourful fall landscapes are perfect for warming up your living space.

If you’re looking to add a custom art piece to your collection, we can help curate that for you. Please contact Hedi to discuss.

Anne loves to paint landscape, as it offers such diversity with regards to light, composition and colour. What truly drives her is the stunning beauty of the world around us, and in particular, the uplifted feeling that Anne gets when seeing the warm glow of sunlight contrasted by the dramatic shadows. At that point, she can’t wait to share it on canvas!

Anne More has earned recognition at local art shows, juried exhibitions and in the business/art community. In 2014 she won Best Cityscape in the Arabella Canadian Landscape Contest.

Slipping Into Morning - Anne More

Her repertoire is varied and includes florals, the human figure and portraiture, landscapes and townscapes. More’s style is lifelike, but linear; she encloses shapes within thin dark lines. Some of her landscapes are strikingly simplified, drawing attention to contrasting shapes, lines and textures.

Painting, teaching and travel have been an integral part of Anne’s life and have all found their voice in her art. Anne’s acrylic/oil paintings embody her respect of nature and understandings of the world. The artwork shimmers with light and radiates an energy that resonates with all who appreciate her artistic vision.
